Getting Shipshape: Spring 2026
Spring is officially in the air at the yard! There is nothing quite like the sound of sanders humming and the smell of fresh paint to remind us that the very best of the Bay’s boating season is just around the corner.
For this inaugural edition of our project update newsletter, we are taking you behind the scenes on some truly magnificent vessels that have been keeping our crew busy and inspired.
Featured Favorite: S/V Arcturus
A 76-foot yacht like Arcturus commands attention when she arrives at the yard. Keeping her ready for the next voyage requires substantial mechanical work, and we take equal pride in standard preventative care. For Arcturus, we replaced her saildrives, serviced her thrusters, and applied fresh bottom paint and Propspeed. Large-scale projects like this demand precise scheduling and heavy-duty expertise. Arcturus is now mechanically dialed in and runs as well as the day she launched.
We are honored to be trusted to care for this exceptional yacht!
2025 Big Boat Champion: Zeus
While some boats come to us for major overhauls, others just need a few expert hands to help keep them in peak competitive form. That is exactly the case with Zeus, a cutting-edge, Australian-flagged Infiniti 52 racing yacht.
While this Spring’s haul didn't include a massive list of repairs, we are incredibly proud to be trusted with her care while she’s being stored in await of her next race win.
ICYMI: Zeus comes with a Grand Prix pedigree. As an Infiniti 52, she uses a modern transverse DSS foil system to sail flatter and faster. Zeus just swept her division at the Rolex Big Boat Series, winning 7 of 7 races. Racing teams require flawless work. We’re proud to be trusted with a top-level boat.
Bottom line: You don’t need a major refit to book time with us. We give the same precise, careful service to racers and family cruisers.
Our Commitment to the Fleet: Commercial & Government Excellence
Diversity in the yard is one of our greatest strengths and proudest features. We recently welcomed a U.S. Coast Guard 47’ Motor Life Boat all the way from San Diego—Svendsen’s Bay Marine is proud to be the only yard in California equipped and certified to handle this specialized, life-saving fleet.
Our mission-critical work continued with the Oakland Fire Department’s Bay Wolf for fuel tank cleaning, engine repairs, and fresh bottom paint. The local favorite commercial fishing vessel Mr. Morgan, returned for seasonal hull care.
From elite racing machines to emergency response craft, we remain Northern California’s most versatile and trusted haul-out destination.
Paint Shed Graduation
The newest addition to our paint shed’s roster, Salty Lady, emerged looking fresh and renewed as ever. A photo tells 1000 words. Take a look for yourself. But can you tell which is the “before” photo?
Called to enter your fisherman era? Try your hand, guided by Captain Jared Davis, aboard this spectacular sportfishing vessel based out of Sausalito — the looks certainly live up to her impressive catch record!
What’s Been Welding?
Our goal was simple but exacting for this vintage 24’ Moore Sailboat: modernize the boat's structural integrity and maximize corrosion resistance without compromising the iconic original lines.
The bow pulpit contributes to the safety of the vessel and is a key aesthetic feature. We were able to fabricate a custom stainless steel unit specifically formed to the Moore sailboat’s unique hull contour, including reinforced mounting pads designed to distribute loads evenly onto the deck structure. Every weld is meticulously polished to ensure maximum long-term rust resistance in salt air.
The forestay carries immense tension, making the stem fitting one of the most critical components on the boat. We replaced the aging hardware with a heavy-duty, reinforced stainless steel chain plate.
For sailors who need to step and unstep their mast frequently, a reliable tabernacle is a game-changer. We designed this assembly for repeatable, safe operation by using heavier gauge stainless steel and ensuring all components are precisely aligned.
