More about our services.

  • Fiberglass & Gel Coat

Our composites team specializes in repairing and designing with materials like fiberglass, Kevlar, and carbon fiber and are considered the most experienced in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are able to duplicate original designs for repairs or create new, lightweight structures. Additionally, we have expertise in matching and applying gel coat, even on aged and faded surfaces. For racing sailboats, the team focuses on fairing bottoms, keels, and rudders to create a strong yet lightweight design that can provide a competitive edge.

  • Bottom Paint

Unlike other boatyards, we are SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings) certified, meaning we follow strict quality control standards that go beyond the visual checks used elsewhere. We roll or spray a range of underwater body coatings—including hard, ablative, vinyl, epoxy, and ceramic paints—for all types of vessels, from small dinghies to Coast Guard cutters. Our process is streamlined to adhere to manufacturer guidelines for wet film thickness and drying times. We also ensure an environmentally conscious approach by using dust-collecting sanding methods and maintaining clean work areas during the removal and application of paint.

  • Finish Paint

We are the only facility in the state to have a paint booth specifically built for yachts up to 75 feet long. This unique booth provides a meticulously controlled environment, with consistent temperatures, superior lighting, and advanced ventilation to eliminate external factors like wind, rain, and cold. This ensures a flawless, long-lasting finish and a more efficient process. With over 40 years of experience and SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings) certification, Svendsen's Bay Marine is a trusted choice for high-quality yacht painting.

  • Rigging

We provide a wide range of services for all types of sailing, including consultations for cruisers and performance-focused upgrades for racing crews. • Metal Work

Our metal shop specializes in repairing, rebuilding, and creating custom metalwork from stainless steel and aluminum. We can fabricate a wide variety of parts and equipment, including frames, rails, stanchions, arches, poles, and anchor rollers. Our work serves everything from small dinghies to super yachts and high-performance racing sailboats. Our metal work crew is certified in pipe, plate, tubing, and angle welding, TIG and MIG arc welding.

  • Sandblasting

When tough surface preparation is required for a variety of surfaces like steel, aluminum, fiberglass, or wood, we utilize a range of materials for blasting, including aluminum oxide, crushed glass grit, glass bead, silicon carbide, and walnut shells. Our work consistently meets or exceeds the SSPC-6 standard, and our site protection practices adhere to OSHA regulations. We also monitor for environmental factors like dew point, humidity, and temperature to ensure quality, and perform chloride monitoring before, during, and after a project.

  • Woodwork, Joinery & Decking

As craftsmen dedicated to the art of wooden yacht restoration, we offer a wide range of services to preserve the heritage and beauty of these classic vessels. Our work includes cold molding, planking, all types of interior joinery, teak and faux-teak decking on all areas of your vessel. We are experts in fabricating wooden masts, scarf joints, and spars, as well as handling the removal and installation of wooden keels, rudders, and bowsprits. Whether we're using spray or roll-and-tip techniques for varnishing, our journeymen approach every project with passion, ensuring we honor the original design while passing our timeless knowledge to the next generation.

  • Systems & Electrical

We can handle a full range of new installations and troubleshooting for all marine systems. Our expertise covers AC/DC wiring, as well as the installation of and repair of watermakers, jet and prop thrusters, and head and bilge systems. We also specialize in windlasses, fuel transfer and polishing, and navigation equipment, including radar and autopilots.
